About Jamie Lynn
A perpetual artist, my creative journey began when I was a child spending my free time drawing and coloring in between playing outside and exploring the acres of woods that encircled our family home. As I grew up my commitment and pursuit of art never wavered. Holding a bachelor of fine arts degree from Meredith College, a K-12 North Carolina teaching license and a master’s degree in art education from East Carolina University, I work to teach and inspire young artists in the public school system.
I work purposefully with acrylic paint and clay, using bold forms, vibrant color, and expressive marks to communicate emotion. When painting, I prefer stretched canvas for its durability—it holds up to the layered, dynamic brushwork my process demands. Ceramics, on the other hand, offer a more tactile form of expression, allowing me to shape and mold raw earth into meaningful forms with my hands.

Life experiences are the driving force behind my creative expression. I’m compelled to visually interpret meaningful moments by blending introspection, discovery, and imagination. My process is rooted in intuition, often sparked by a whirlwind of intense internal dialogue. I rely on writing, sketching, and recording in my sketchbooks to give shape to my ideas. Through the use of personal symbolism and a cultivated visual language, I construct intentional compositions that aim to convey both meaning and beauty.
My current body of work reflects the emotional journey I’ve been on following the loss of my son, who earned his angel wings in November 2023.

I believe art is a vital and transformative force that should be available to everyone. Guided by this belief, I strive to create work that brings beauty, meaning, and a sense of connection to the world. I also advocate for art as a powerful tool for emotional expression and healing, encouraging others to use it as a constructive outlet. For over 20 years, I’ve proudly served as a high school art teacher, mentoring and inspiring young artists while sharing my passion for creativity with the next generation.
